THE CHALLENGE
In the northeastern region of Brazil, the rate of infant mortality due to malnutrition today is still incredibly high, affecting thousands of babies.

WHERE WE WORK
Etica works together with IPREDE (the cities largest institute for the prevention of malnutrition) that has operated in Fortaleza since 1986 and has cured over 25,000 children.

THE PROJECT
In Brazil, infant malnutrition is still a huge problem in urban centers.

Poor hygiene and improper breastfeeding habits are the major causes of this problem.

Infant malnutrition causes irreversible damage including mental retardation and physical deformities.

ETICA employs a nutritionist and a registered nurse as well as providing all the necessary medication, supplements and equipment to cure over 50 infants a year.

Our medical staff is able to not only evaluate the level of malnutrition but return the infant to a healthy normal balance.

As well as curing and removing infants from life-threatening risk, we educate the parents in proper nutritional and hygienic practices, to help guarantee the future success of our program.
